Extending capability of Multivariate or A/B testing to custom component

i know how extend capability of multivariate testing custom components carousel.

 

i went through documnetation at: http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/5-5/wcm/multivariate_testing.html , found ootb multivariate testing component exposes 1 or more image banners , maintains report on:

> number of views/visits users

> number of clicks - click through rate.

 

i understand whether applicable banners or can extended other components without having of code change? kindly advice. 

any update on this?
