Quick fix functions DO NOT WORK

auto enhance tools malfunctioning: auto levels, auto contrast, , auto color correction change images either negative or posterized version of picture. have wasted 5 hours trying resolve this. working directly adobe photoshop elements 10 classroom in book. chapter / lesson 07 page starting around 169. images supplied on disc , software exact same thing other photo have tried edit. same thing in quick fix auto fixes.

 

ready throw disks , book out , go buy elses software. after 20 years of working graphics (photoshop older versions, pagemaker, quark x-press). finished apple pro series fcp x, motion graphics 5, , compressor. no, i'm not novice. if cannot give idea why software totally corrupt give up.

 

i've searched / googled every forum can find. not work main menu or quick edit menu. , cannot find trace of why happening. yes, have totally uninstalled , re-installed software.

what operating system using?

 

resetting pse 10 preferences file cures problems , can holding down shift+alt+ctrl keys (windows)

or shift+option+cmd (mac) after starting launch of photoshop elements 10 editor.

 

keep holding keys down until dialog asking if want delete photoshop elements settings file , press yes.

 

i haven't used clasroom in book awhile, in older versions, somewhere towards beginning of book, explained how reset photoshop elements preferences.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
