Thread: Can't Record From HP Laptop Sound Card No matter What I Try.

p { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; } can't record sound coming laptop's sound card ever. doesn't matter if use sound recorder, audacity, desktop recorder or record now. have done before using windows , ubuntu after upgrading 11.10 , disliking down graded 10.10 doesn’t want record sound more.


i've tried various different threads find solution , can't find helps.


laptop hp compaq nx6325.


it's running ubuntu 10.10 maverick
kernel linux 2.6.35-22 generic.
,
think sound card.


**** list of playback hardware devices ****
card 0: sb [hda ati sb], device 0: ad198x analog [ad198x analog]

subdevice #0: subdevice #0


i've tried youtubing solution there doesn't seem working there.


i'm not sure or other information may need information appreciated. knowing me i've overlooked stupidly simple.

try shut off 1 of 2 speakers (i.e. putting sound balance way left) , see if microphone work.

if does, download , install pulse audio volume control ubuntu software center, , on 4th tab (input devices) shut off 1 of 2 channels (i.e. left one).

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
