Thread: how to save alsa settings ?

hi,
background :
using gigabyte w566u laptop, intel core2duo, ubuntu 10.10 64-bit.
working great except sound problem :

(1) when boot machine, have speaker icon in notification area , works fine,
e.g. can play music, watch videos etc, change volume ....
2 things don't work :
(2) when start skype, can hear ringing , can hear person other side microphone not responding. after googling while realised problem in alsa's settings.
opened alsamixer , changed 'mic' option 'mic' 'internal mic' because using built-in mic of laptop.
, can use skype fine.

can use built-in sound recorder in applications>sound&viseo>sound recorder.

the problem :
problem after rebooting, alsa's settings going it's defaults.
after googling 2 hours , trying offers old posts, among them have been trying :
(1) open terminal , type :
gksudo gedit /etc/pulse/default.pa
, comment line : load-module module-device-restore
(2) open terminal , type : sudo alsactl store
, sudo alsactl store 0

nothing happens, when rebooting, again, alsa's settings default means 'mic' option set 'mic' , not 'internal mic'.

have been trying google alsa , pulseaudio huge complicated field , memory, playing trial , error game in audio environment makes things wrong unless know doing.

so, if understands going on appreciate advice.

have no problem type commands in terminal , post output you'll have info needed solve problem, please not play trial , error game machine, except flaw works beautifull , don't wish ruin it. rather change alsa's settings manually when needed skype , not ruin on whole configuration.

should basic solution, not swimming in audio field.

thnks lot guys.
