Thread: Ubuntu will not boot, recent upgrade to 11.10

hello! ubuntu has had trouble starting on own, , found start reliably after had booted windows, restarted computer, , booted ubuntu. wasn't big issue me, ignored it.

today, updated 11.10, , seemed work did. attempted install graphics drivers ati hd 3870x2, didn't function how have liked to, uninstalled it. now, seem if ubuntu not boot @ all, after booting windows. i've made note of command line booting kernels in grub.

question is: how can fix ubuntu can boot without first booting windows?

in advance.

wubi not meant permanent way of using ubuntu. try ubuntu windows.

suggest make dual boot installing ubuntu on own separate partition.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
