Changing fonts in paragraph and character styles (AppleScript, Grep or JavaScript)
i have been trying javascripts in discussion:
adobe community: specified font need changed in paragraph styles
but cannot of them work. have been putting them coderunner saving them indesign scripts folder have specific error messages ones have tried. wondering if solve problem anyway, is:
helvetica neue lt seems add lt description thus: "helvetica neue lt lt 45" instead of "helvetica neue lt 45". indesign not recognise , when open each file list of fonts found. have dozens of styles (paragraph , character) in dozens of files , have changed of styles manually - laborious task. styles must changed otherwise still stuck helvetica neue lt lurking away, waiting style applied. cannot use "find font..." in type menu.
i changing "helvetica neue lt std" many faces: 35 thin, 45 light, 46 light italic, 65 medium, 75 bold...
from similar faces in helvetica neue lt. these display in styles menu [helvetica neue lt] [lt 45 light]
sometimes when change helvetica neue lt std manually face sticks (even though have changed it) have "helvetical neue ltd std [lt 45 light]" , have go through styles again , again. tedious.
so if can me problem i'd eternally grateful.
using indesign cs6, macmini 2012, mountain lion (though had same problem in lion)

but first, should bit of housecleaning in font library. description sound big mess.
do use font management tools? of times more harm (but aware it's necessary evil part).
the fonts trying use in font library or in indesign document's folder?
while mac lot better windows in managing multiple fonts/font versions, it's lot more "fragile" if goes wrong font.
try cleaning font cache first:
sudo atsutil databases -remove
the restart font server
sudo atsutil server -shutdown sudo atsutil server -ping
