I cannot make Adobe Reader open on my laptop.

i installed adobe reader xi not work.  have windows 7.  uninstalled , installed x didn't work tried 9.  how make adobe reader work on laptop?  opens greyed out window , closes again.

if neither of versions work, have serious systemic issue, security tool preventing reader loading "evil" pdfs , connecting ther internet, missing or revoked security certificates or bad graphics driver wreaking havoc hardware accelerated display functions. impossible tell more based on sparse info, it's not adobe can fix you. have dig depths of system.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
