Thread: Frequent network interruptions (no wicd or network manager)

hello all, ubuntu (10.04) laptop behaving quite annoyingly on network:

connected are: windows pc (wired) , laptop (either wired or wireless wpa).

management of network interfaces: pure ifup/ifdown based on /etc/network/interfaces. (nothing wicd/nm on laptop)

symptoms: 2 different situations may (one of them will, it's matter of time) happen:
a) windows pc getting fine connection (browsing , everything: ok), when enabling connected interface on laptop (wlan0 or eth2) can load few pages in firefox or connect skype or small, after (quite fast...), both windows pc , ubuntu laptop lose connection.
b) not happen right away , happens on laptop, lose connection (windows pc fine)
both) "losing connection" mean "nothing can loaded in ff or whatever else, did not notice changes in 'ifconfig' results , i'm still able ping outside world".

current "remedies": depends on situation:
a) swear internally, reset modem... wait , start browsing again.
b) issuing "sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart" sufficient give me working connection...

voila, if need else i'll more happy provide information need.

in advance...

a few things might help:

/etc/network/interfaces
code:
auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface wlan0 inet dhcp iface eth2 inet dhcp iface default inet dhcp iface bonheiden inet dhcp wpa-ssid belkin54g wpa-psk xxxxxx
/etc/resolv.conf
code:
nameserver 192.168.2.1 domain belkin search belkin
sudo lshw -c network
code:
