Thread: ftp error "connect(): No route to host"

i have home network (no proxies) 2 desktop pcs attached transfer files between using ftp client yafc. been working fine until set static ip address on both machines. 1 runs mint 9, other ubuntu 10.04 (basically same distro) , set static address using network manager (see attached screenshot).

else works fine, can browse web, use nmap see other machines on network (including 1 i'm trying connect too) etc, can't seem log in via ftp. have ideas why doing this?

below terminal output when try connect

code:
carranty@carranty-desktop ~ $ yafc ftp://birbeth@192.168.0.4 yafc 1.1.1 copyright (c) 1998-2001 martin hedenfalk <mhe@home.se>. program comes absolutely no warranty; details type 'warranty'. free software; type 'copyright' details. connecting 192.168.0.4 (192.168.0.4) @ port 21... connect(): no route host yafc>

hay,

did ftp work before static adresses. common cause network ips being on diffrent subnet (i think called) router, example:

router 19.168.1.1
, computers on 192.168.0.1 , 192.168.0.2

, check route. make sure route setup go trough router (i see did setup gateway). make sure services running, , router supports protocol on static ips.

if still doesn't work. please give more information on servers using ftp protocol, , outputs of:

ifconfig
route
