Thread: How do I change the root/sudo password?

this may stupid question, have been trying find change root password. i'm sure it's somewhere obvious, i've searched , can't find answer anywhere. if explain how change it, great!

running ubuntu 11.04 in classic display mode.

in advance!

become superuser
code:
sudo su
and run
code:
passwd
after you've changed it, enter 'exit' until terminal closes.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
