for year have not been able sign admin account because of "install problem. configuration defaults gnome power manager have not been installed correctly. please contact administrator" message every time try sign in. have 3 other accounts besides 1 can not use admin password on of them , cant use sudo of stuck on 1 account cant into. can not groups , user , can not make upgrades. suggestions? started upgraded 10.04

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
