hello, i'm new ubuntu (first install) , and have small snag.

installed on compaq presario v5000, wireless says it's disabled hardware switch- pressing switch not turn on.

also, wired connections not work either, cyclically tries connect , disconnects.

how start troubleshooting process?

laptop gift gave christmas, rally need make work

if open terminal , enter

sudo ifconfig
what output?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
