Thread: multiple versions in boot menu

i have dual boot lucid lynx (ubuntu 10.04 lts). have set each time turn on computer, asked if want ubuntu, recovery, or windows 7.

past few updates, have noticed list of ubuntu choices increase. there versions labeled "ubuntu linux 2.6.32-3x-generic" x=3,4,5,6,7. each of these options, there recovery option. ubuntu choices, have 10 options.

problem not have many none of options have functional wireless connectivity except 2.6.32-33. going on? have reinstall wireless driver each time have big update? also, how make sure latest update shows in boot menu? way things going, boot menu gonna big , annoying use.

thanks.

using hp laptop, pavilion dv6. can't recall if have 32 or 64 bit. think 64 bit version on llano amd chip

uname -m
i686

x86 = 32 bit x64 = 64 bit

there go:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2...-bit-or-64-bit

several options in grub, shouldn't effect system bad @ all. if more , more options keep popping kernel loading error when pc tries read grub
