Thread: Strange colours on gtk applications

hi all,

i've installed lubuntu (oneiric ocelot) on parent's computer. updates installed , runs fine. problem programs use gtk strange stripes , colours (mainly pale blue/green , red) across buttons , text fields. text becomes unreadable. moving mouse on affected area turns normal temporarily. couldn't find searching, here am.

computer aged desktop. athlon xp, 1.6ghz think 512mb ram. there dedicated graphics card i'm not sure exactly.

quite familiar linux including digging internals, don't use ubuntu myself.

this sounds graphic card driver issue, great deal if can find card being used.

can show output of
code:
lspci
in terminal, or if no
code:
sudo lshw -c display

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
