Thread: sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh -a Fails


my ubuntu installation has gotten messed (freezes while booting desktop) - can still in via ssh, , seems working ok there. want try reinstall using:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh -a

error:

dpkg-maintscript-helper: error: couldn't identify package

upon reconfigure closes.

there way fix this? complete reinstall of ubuntu guess, i'd break little possible.

anybody have ideas on this? sounds need complete reinstall, i'd rather not if possible.
