Thread: Total RAM size lower than specified on box

hi, run board, have been getting previous solved posts while now. installed ubuntu 11.10 32 bits on new hp pavilion dm4-2180la claims 6gm ram on sticker, box , official website, doesn't feel fast @ all, system monitor says 2.7 gb ram. need know if it's ubuntu issue (im new ubuntu) or should go shop replacement?

i'm thinking might need go windows 7 before going shop. here pictures system monitor , others.





short answer: 64 bit recognises more memory, 32 bit can pae.
try using 64 bit live cd , you'll see difference. if it's fresh install i'd reinstall 64 bit, that's me.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
