Thread: touchpad and fan issue

for various reasons rehearsed on these forums thought i'd give mint go. no problems installing , stuff works on toshiba l350 laptop have couple of serious problems. 1 fan won't switch off , 2 touchpad doesn't work. both worked in ubuntu proper although did have issue getting fan work initially. problem cannot remember did this.

installed acpi , touchpad worked fan wasn't switching on tried reinstalling now....

please can help.

can fan work if hibernate first otheriwse random on , off. toucpad started working...

managed work out how add grub_cmdline_linux_default="quiet splash acpi_osi=linux"

/etc/default/grub

, instlaling coretemp module worked although have lost use of fn-f6/7 keys i'm not worried that.....

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
