Thread: Wireless "Firmware Missing" on Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Netbook

i'm new ubuntu (installed yesterday) i'm running problems getting wireless work. see similar posts on here there's lot of wording don't understand , need walked through.

i've used windows machines life , have chance mess ubuntu since have wife's old netbook play with.

appreciated.

get hands on ethernet cable long enough plug laptop directly router. reboot , should have dependable, wired connection no need enter wep or wpa keys.

next thing whilst connected open update manager , let updates. wifi working need install driver may not included on install cd. guess is broadcom wifi.

ethernet connection working, try opening additional drivers application see if lists install. install driver finds, reboot without cable in , left click wifi icon see if router listed. if is, should able select , enter wep or wpa passkey same in windows.

if offered sta driver or b43 driver there seem issues wrong 1 being installed first blacklisting other cannot installed later. needed b43 1 son's dell.
