Why is sharpening not visible?

my last step in processing sharpening.  after application photo not sharpened.  if use zoom button 1 level photo sharp.  when run slideshow in bridge lack of sharpening appears here.  suggestions?

you see acurate representation of sharpening when view image @ 100%. true of modifications might do.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
