Illustrator and Screen Printing
i started working in screen shop prepress tech. current work flow seems little inefficient , wondering if screen printers willing discuss standard procedure using illustrator make screens.
here how it:
open customer's supplied art (they prep on own)
hide base white layer
print .ps: manually change lpi's 45 , freq 22.5, select individual page , set "custom" in media size, save
hide art layer
bring base white layer
print .ps: maintain previous settings
print .ps: change page next artboard, set "custom" media size
hide base white
bring art layer
print .ps: maintain settings
keep pattern remaining artboards
i'm wondering if there isn't way in 1 step. once rhythm it's easy it's busy office, there lot's of distractions , process can messed up. better off setting multiple pieces of art on 1 artboard , including own registration marks?
when set stuff old job (i did screen printing jobs) did set art have spot colors desired, in print dialog, went output>mode>separations host based , made sure colors correct (no cmyk) , printed film.
