Thread: Anyone Have Any Recommended Books For Someone Getting Into Web Hosting- Tech Support

i have been looked @ job in web hosting, though of expertise lies in hardware , networking. self-taught no formal training or certifications, , hoping guys have few recommended reads me. though know can find information online, feel more comfortable , learn better when have physical book in hand.

give background of job....

tier 1 entry position dealing web hosting back-end mid-sized hosting company.

use cpanel front-end back-end (for tech support).

dealing command line of tech support duties...but have been asked familiar mysql, apache/php, , courier imap.

run centos, not ubuntu...all i'm familiar ubuntu, has me little worried...but not much.

of said, know have aptitude it....i need add knowledge. have 2 weeks construct website using cpanel know basic , more advanced functions in command line...which until now, eludes me. have used command line whenever needed to..but copying "code box" on forum threads. understanding have command line navigation, apt-get, updating repositories, , such. far terminal goes...im complete novice.

guys! want job , finaly foot in door of i.t. ...turning hobby profession. please in anyway can, every little bit help.also if unclear of requirements in job please let me know , clarify best of ability. till then! ~rashhashan

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
