Thread: Booting installation from hard drive using usb flash drive?

hi,

i'm new linux in general , have been using ubuntu awhile, looking try , set functionality i'm having trouble with. have system set dual boot windows 7 , ubuntu; windows 7 partition encrypted truecrypt, using boot loader currently, not give me option of loading ubuntu installation.

install grub onto flash drive, use either boot ubuntu or allow me options booting truecrypt partition. without flash drive connected, truecrypt bootloader load now. if possible, find way install ubuntu live usb installation on same flash drive, have option of running live installation, loading installation on internal hard drive, or booting truecrypt bootloader.

biggest problem i'm having getting grub install on flash drive. i've come across few tutorials online type of thing, seem taylored different situations, , none working me. specifically, not sure how partition , format flash drive (a) use grub in way looking use it, , (b) allow have live install. finally, having trouble figuring out changes need make load installations off of internal hard drive though i'm booting off flash drive.

or direction appreciated. i've seen few tutorials on forum , online, again, haven't been able find solution. in advance,

mathew
