Thread: Chrooting to ubuntu from iPod Touch.

hello.

got random idea slam ubuntu rootfs on ipod touch 3g. when try chroot it, "exec format error".

apparently means ubuntu rootfs, created rootstock of incompatible architecture? weird. ipod touch 3g has cortex-a8 cpu according rootstock script image built for.

decided try debian lenny rootfs, since debian arm eabi port seems compatible anything... no. same "exec format error" when attempting chroot.

tried run chroot debian rootfs, , got similar error.

apple playing tricks on me? know whether ubuntu , debian arm ports _really_ incompatible cpu of ipod touch 3g?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
