Thread: Could I use a laptop as an intercom?

hi folks,

odd thought. have netbook has built in bluetooth. use 1 bluetooth headset (like phones have) 1 end , wired headset @ other , have 1 talk other? need audio in @ 1 end , audio out @ other. don't need return.

here reason idea. cyclist , daughter rides behind me on trailer bicycle (half bicycle attached mine). trouble can't hear well, because 4 , doesn't speak loudly , traffic noise too. can hear me.

thoughts?

(i run xubuntu 11.10)

i did reading , tried mumble in local loop-back 1 headset plugged internal sockets , set usb sound card (thumb drive sized). speak 1 , sound out of other.

can't test bluetooth headsets don't have access one.

lots of fragile wires poking out of netbook though (thinking of bouncing along on bike), if set 2 bluetooth headsets better.

test wired set on road , see if copes environment before proceeding further.
