Thread: libgl1-mesa-glx/dri Low graphics mode.

hi,

wonder if can help. kind of know what's caysed problem, don't understand enough why , or how rectify without screwing system. in mind, little bit of background.

i'm using ubuntu 11.04 dream studio.
remember on previous installation drivers libgl1-mesa-glx , dri caused problem x-org assume. reinstalled. mind months now, ever time see them avoid installing them. installed them , can boot desktop in low graphics mode. have ati card , using ati-driver-installer-11-4-x86.x86_64.run card driver.
needless once 2 drivers installed lost 3d functionality, , goes black screen on startup. no login screen. can in in low gfx mode.
ati catalyst control centre installed errors. ie. can start gui, , reports can find details of error here............

installation complete.
there errors during installation. details can found in /usr/share/ati/fglrx-install.log

i'd appreciate if of folks can point me in right direction how rectify this.

if try , remove 2 files synaptic, wants uninstall ridiculous amount of stuff it. far have resisted thinking there must way sort it.

i'll gladly try , provide additional info might need.

well after several weeks of putting starting in low graphics mode, thought i'd have shot @ it. either way managed install ati catalyst drivers --force. have locked 2 offending updates caused issue in synaptic package manager. how was. i'm glad people don't answer post's in regard
