Thread: ubuntu external sound is not working

i tried these advices http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1653891, , still when i'm pluging in headphones or external speakers not working. have win7 , work there.
strange thing when plug in half of jack in speakers hole, work, incorporate speakers working.

help.
ps: have ubuntu 11.10

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
