Thread: Why make separate distros?
was thinking, if ubuntu based distros are....based on ubuntu, why offer them seperate os's. not offered set of scripts in package configure ubuntu achieve same thing? instead of having reinstall seperate os each time want try different, why not have ubuntu installed , install package?
maybe there type of snapshot facility saves current configuration can used revert normal ubuntu.
integrated installation process of ubuntu without effecting size. since connect net during installation process anyway, download scripts+de+whatever else , reconfigure installation on fly.
this isn't ubuntu centric discussion. there many linux distributions many different bases. various linux distributions exist because goals , visions differ, involving upstream things not handled installing new package. while make easier try different linux "distributions" inherently limit linux distribution be, step backwards in opinion.
