UPDATE to "Premiere Pro's #1 missing feature": Auto-Tagging Bins with Shortcuts

in previous thread (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1179075?start=0&tstart=0) suggested adobe give fcpx , fcp7-style subclip creation.

i got new ideas improve previous fr:

auto-tagging bins user assignable shortcuts

1.   creating auto-tagging bin simple adding special character such ‘#’ in front of title.  example, renaming bin ‘interviews’ ‘#interviews’ automatically add tag ‘interviews’ metadata of clips within it.  users add several auto-tags single bin.  example, naming bin ‘university #interviews #staff’, clips added bin automatically inherit searchable metadata tags ‘interview’ , ‘staff’, not ‘university’ since doesn't have ‘#’ symbol added in front of it.

2.  contrary fcpx’s 'keyword collections' approach, approach allow bin/sub bin tagging hierarchies.  imagine following bin structure: parent bin named ‘interviews’ containing 3 sub-bins named ‘staff’, ‘students’ , ‘sound bites’.  adding auto-tag parent bin, (e.g. changing name ‘#interviews’) automatically propagate tag contents of sub-bins!  organizational power of amazing!

3.  @ time, user remove metadata tags clips dragging clips out of auto-tagging bin, or removing auto-tag bin itself.

4.  number of bins, whether enabled auto-tagging or not, given keyboard shortcuts.  doing simple selecting new ‘assign shortcut’ option bin’s context menu, automatically bring ‘keyboard shortcuts’ window, new ‘bins’ root folder twirled open , ready use (in addition current root folders: ‘application’, ‘panels’ , ‘tools’).  easy visual reference, ‘bins’ root folder automatically populated names of every project window bin, in current hierarchy.  so, using previous example, bin ‘interviews’ have twirly arrow twirl down/up sub-bins ‘staff’, ‘students’ , ‘sound bites’.

5. time user adds shortcut bin, shortcut appear @ end of bin’s name (e.g. adding shortcut ’2′ bin ‘interviews’ result in bin’s name appearing this: ‘interviews {2}’).  users have quick visual reference remembering shortcuts.

6. these options give users 4 great ways add clips/sub-clips bins sorting and/or auto-tagging:

    1. use bin’s shortcut send clip’s in/out range source monitor bin.
    2. use bin’s shortcut create sub-clips of 1 or more selected clips in timeline (something can’t in fcpx!)
    3. drag&drop clip’s in/out range source monitor bin.
    4. drag&drop 1 or more clips timeline automatically create subclips inherit present auto-tags.

imho, fcpx still has superior organizational tools vs pp, @ moment, suggested features above, pp one-up fcpx in regard!

hopefully of clear.  thoughts?  comments?
