Contents and Index tabs showing garbage characters in Asian languages (RoboHelp 10)

the japanese , chinese chm files received translator show correct asian characters in contents , index tabs. need make change help, when open project or compile it, words tabs show garbage characters. have japanese , simplified chinese language packs installed, , tried switching pc language language, still garbage characters.

 

one thing notice in !language! folders languages, there's !language!.fpj file , en_us folder en_us.fpj file in it. both .fpj files include text "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>". should there different .fpj file asian languages?

 

any other ideas?

 

edit: also, switched language in project settings dialog simplified chinese while pc language set chinese, didn't change anything.

have tested on actual japanese or chinese operating system?

 

i ask because believe necessary in order present intended. i'm doubtful it's sufficient use english version of windows configured language packs , like.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
