Exporting in Lightroom 4

after editing, photos reside?  need them?  want export edited photos external hard drive.  can that?

the edited photos don't exist. edit instructions used (for example, exposure +0.25, contrast 20, highlights -20) stored in lightroom database , lightroom can display photos these edits time want.

no, unless want them.

yes, use file->export. people don't regular part of workflow. people export when have need photo outside of lightroom (i.e. e-mail, web, transfer other software), , delete exported photo whenever need exported photo gone, knowing lr can reproduce exact copy whenever want. have 0 exported photos sitting around on hard disk. don't keep exports. needs may vary.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
