How do I change a black signature (on a white background) to another color?

i have black hand-written signature on white background scanned in , saved jpg.

 

i need select black lines , change color else, can't figure out how select black , change color (for instance) yellow. i'm relatively new photoshop , not familiar masks, etc.

 

the color replacement tool isn't working reason. if select area using magic wand, selects want change (the black lined signature), don't know how replace color.

 

help! (i'm using cs5)

hello,

there many way this. try making solid color fill layer , setting blend mode lighten or screen. (this work if background pure white , sig black)

go layer>new fill layer>solid color, set blend mode lighten, , choose color.
