Thread: Encrypting Home Directory (Created as Non-Encrypted)

hi all,

i'm using ubuntu 10.04 , 11 (the flavor can disable unity). i'm interested in encrypting home directory after fact (the account created without encryption).

encrypted filesystem howto third hit on search 'ubuntu encrypt home directory" (the first 2 noise). is encryptedfilesystemhowto (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/en...ilesystemhowto) applicable , date?

seems heck of lot of [manual] work. find bit surprising, since microsoft (windows) , apple (mac os) have been doing years. perhaps there's different document should using?

the script ecryptfs-migrate-home easier way. it's included in package ecryptfs-utils.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
