Thread: errno 5 ... please help, i'm at my very end

i've been trying install ubuntu 11.10 day now. starting trying dual boot i'll take anything. every time try installing errno 5 message. if boot live usb , check disk defects, it'll tell me have 1 error won't is. i've reformatted constantly. made new usb after new usb after new dvd after new cd etc. it's enraging me , stress ridiculous. i've tried different ubuntu versions , it's same. have no idea hell can do. googling has given me nothing.

if there single fault cd can enough stop installation.
firstly check md5sum of downloaded .iso file , if checks out re-burn image @ slowest possible setting.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
