so here am, sitting @ work, , idea way proposterous popped in head. why not build ultimate emulation box? - enough money put - replace every game system own? why? "proof of concept."

here key ideas:

• must based on open source emulators, open source os.
• assume machine running has hardware run each , every emulator.
  
  • what think recommended system requirements be?
• has stripped down ubuntu/other linux os interface, built custom box
  
  • i'm picturing maybe grub style menu choose game system emulate.
  • or maybe can choose list of installed games , system automatically chooses right emulator.
• the ability pop in original disc whichever game system out of question, though nice feature.
• most importantly, must have saveable auto configuration find best possible playable settings per specific game.
• built in controller drivers xbox 360 controllers, original xbox controllers (obviously have modded), , ps3 controllers (bluetooth , usb)

a few questions have: emulator recommend each game system, dating snes? have suggestions or theories on how make plausible concept?

you're not going find emulators ps3 or 360 or orininal xbox. best can playstation 2. specs aren't bad. think pcsx2 runs on pretty minimal hardware (at least considering can build machine for). has built in drivers controllers, , usb device run them $4.37 on amazon.com. works pretty well. controllers work great ps1 emulator, , snes, , nes emulators i've tried.
