Thread: lirc not working with IRman on USB
i'm hoping here have insight. i'm trying lirc working old irman serieal receiver through usb-serial adapter , having difficulty getting lirc see input irman.
here details:
using mythbuntu packaged version of lirc, version 0.9.0.
usb-serial adapter using prolific pl2303 based device ubuntu udev has located @ /dev/ttyusb0
have lines remote_driver="irman" , remote_device="/dev/ttyusb0" in /etc/lirc/hardware.conf file.
when run "irrecord test3" get:
irrecord - application recording ir-codes usage lirc
copyright (c) 1998,1999 christoph bartelmus(lirc@bartelmus.de)
irrecord: not file information /dev/lirc
irrecord: default_init(): no such file or directory
irrecord: not init hardware (lircd running ? --> close it, check permissions)
when run "irrecord -d /dev/lircd test3" starts sees no ir codes coming in.
when run "irrecord -h irman -d /dev/ttyusb0 test3" works should , can read in ir codes , create "test3" device file of course lirc unable see commands (and irw doesn't show input) when tested.
when run "lircd -h irman -d /dev/ttyusb0 -n" daemon starts , when open irw in terminal see lircd has accepted new client still see no ir commands being received.
suggestions/thoughts?
thanks!

i registered hoping find answer exact same question. since question has gone long without answer, suppose we're both out of luck.
can managed build lirc source, , starting manually can irw recognize key presses, can't life of me figure out how make load on own. try "sudo /etc/init.d/lirc start" , nothing happens. i've double , triple checked /etc/lirc/hardware.conf" file. frustrated.
