Thread: Ubuntu 11.10 Apache2 won't move from default DocumentRoot

i tearing hair out ubuntu 11.10 , apache2 trying basics working. had working fine under ubuntu 10.xx don't know whether it's 11.10 causing issues or else.

i've tried can think of in apache2.conf sticks /var/www. example, created directory test under /var/www, copied default index.html , edited knew when correctly being selected. restart of apache2 , http://localhost still gives index.html in /var/www

comments/questions welcome before go bald through hair pulling.

i've found need clear browser cache when i've modified web site in fashion , doesn't seem change when i'm viewing it.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
