Thread: usb install BOOTMGR missing

hi all

trying install ubuntu studio 11.04 32 bit dual boot alongside dowsxp on advent 4213 netbook usb stick (it has no optical drive). resized main partition on netbook partition wizard, leaving unallocated partition on c drive of 60gb, intended ubuntu os - seemed go enough intact.

downloaded lili usb creator , set iso image on per instructions:

usb stick 16gb sandisk model, fat32 formatted , doesn't have u3 launchpad.

i've set 1st boot drive in netbook bios sandisk usb drive, every time power 'bootmgr missing, press key continue' message. feel have tried rdfm(!) in detail, , spending far long doing when should working - ideas please appreciated.

suspect 'grub', right @ limit of experience , understanding! have missed vital?

i don't know usb creator, used universal usb installer pendrivelinux.com , worked great.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
