Why does my photo look normal in Adobe RAW, but when opened in CS6 it becomes strongly color banded

had problem once before, uninstalled nikon viewing etc software , cleared up. haven't changed since then, started doing again. photo looks normal in adobe camera raw, when opened there cs6 becomes highly color banded , cartoonish looking. on pictures it's happening in brighter, highlight areas, in others whole picture affected. i'm using high end alienware computer , didn't have issues first year, graphics card drivers date, check on monitor drivers next guess.

what color settings?

please provide screenshots illustrate issue , set status bar or info panel display document profile.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
