Avoid borders in clipping masks

hi guys

i'm designing new logo client , rectangular form on background. there c-formed shape in rectangle should clipped in final version. (so if used on black background example, there's regular form on background c in it, not shape of c outside rectangle on left , right of rectangle).

clipping option gives me fine strokes...

how solve this?

thanks!

the first image ideal result (but not clipped shapes of c outside box on coloured background). 2nd result when clipped. note small lines c-shape touches borders of rectangle on left, right , bottom of rectangle.

bob,

presuming  c shape closed path on top of rectangle, can select both , pathfinder>minus front, ungroup if needed.

that cut overlapping part of c shape out of rectangle.

in older versions pathfinder>subtract shape area, , might need press alt/option simple paths, depending on version.
