Nested captivate swfs for creating video slides with captions?

i pretty new captivate , working 5.5 on mac.  may upgrade 6.0 soon, let me know if solve little challenge i'm having captioning video.

 

i working on project have variety of content, including quite lot of video.  need provide closed captioning of video , figured out how placing video "on stage" on slide , having skin's player bar cc.  problem want player bar on video slides, having skin's player bar showing on slides isn't option.

 

i can bring in video object , comes in wrapped in default halo player other player options.  life of me can't figure out how add captions (and cc button) player. did miss something?

 

the possible solution i've come make each video single captivate slide, publish swf, bring in , place them on appropriate slides.  way can have captions , own player bar, can have other informational slides, quizes, etc. without bar.  did test of , issue found when published main project, captivate zip file didn't automatically include flv file.  seems easy enough solve if unzip it, add flv folder , re-zip it. 

 

like said, seems solution.  project destined lms tech folk have warned me they've never have scorm implementation piece of off shelf software work reliably.  , since i'm new this, want make sure not going down road give me problems down road.  reference, don't need pass along results quizing, need track completion.

 

anyway, missing , shouldn't have use work around in first place?  or there better way this?  can use capioning place captions , give me swf package (palyer video , captions built in) i'm not sure different i'm attemption.

if understand correctly, want able have playbar (with closed caption button) visible on video slides, not on other slides. can control visibility of captivate playbar variable cpcmndshowplaybar. on slides want playbar, can execute "assign cpcmndshowplaybar 1" upon entering slide. on slides don't want playbar, can execute "assign cpcmndshowplaybar 0" hide it.

 

 

your workaround technically works, embedding captivate swf in captivate project can cause problems since use same variables , such. (someone else can explain better, think of 2 swf files competing control of various system variables cpcmndshowplaybar.)
