Placing .png in illustrator

hi folks!

i don't know doing different....

i have created icon in illustrator , saved web, when try place in illustrator has white background.

when saving web left transparency box ticked...

does have suggestions?

ok! 1 way can on save pdf , open in photoshop , save web...

just don't understand why getting white background when placing in illustrator?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
