Text mysteriously disappearing.

i import rtf file word indesing cs6 , italic text deleted. not italics missing, actual text. else?

this kind of thing happens me time - in opposite direction, in rtfs exported indesign hide or drop text particular kinds of styled text in other applications. without opening rtf in raw-text editor , staring @ tags (something i've been doing more , more our translation memory tools mature, , rtf gets comparatvely dustier , cobwebbier) it's hard know going on.

 

so, instead, use brute-force attack. if indesign doesn't word's rtf output, i'd resave .doc or .docx. if didn't work, i'd open in openoffice/libreoffice/whatever foss office replacement of moment is, , make few minor changes , resave.

 

if that doesn't work, create character style in word , apply text-in-italics see if couldn't change format enough past indesign's word/rtf filters.
