Thread: 11.10 install - grub not installed.

i want standard installation of ubuntu on first partition...i select install ubuntu on sda1 (mountpoint / , ext4) , select bootloader sda (default) (not sda1).
when installation finished, reboot...and no grub installed.. "missing operating system".

installing old ubuntu 10.04 workes fine , boots.

wtf?

sudo grub-install /dev/sda
sudo update-grub

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
