all,

let me tell did, , want fix , tell me if idea or if there better way. have lap top windows 7 on it. installed mint in dual boot configuration , things went well. did not however, windows 7, fresh install , did not realize linux away windows boot commands. idea lap top hard drive desktop running windows 7.

thinking can overwrite disk on lap top whatever version of linux want, , down road if want windows 7 on lap top can reinstall , deal boot issue then.

best way handle wanting preserve on lap top , still able play soley linux on machine or there better way? , can recommend program make bit bit (not sure if correct term) copy of lap top drive desk top machine. have 2 machines on same network while in windows mode.

new if has better idea or have used incorrect terminology let me know.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
