Thread: Do I need to download any drivers for my ATI?

im running fedora16 ati radeon hd 5770
need other drivers? or system have them included?

if run in terminal:
glxinfo | grep rendering

if answer of:
direct rendering: yes

mean have drivers ati?

every linux distribution know includes @ least open source driver versions ati/nvidia cards. these work fine 2d effects, not 3d effects. no linux distribution has control on proprietary drivers , therefore doesn't include them default. may cause problems when new kernel versions pushed out.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
