Thread: Installing Lucid 64 bit over Lucid 32 bit on laptop partition


hi,

can newbie please explaining how install 64 bit lucid on existing 32 bit installation.

have bootable lucid 32 bit usb stick , required live cds. hoping able install 64 bit version on top of 32 bit version in existing ext4 partition, or space.


installing lucid 64 bit on lucid 32 bit on laptop partition
recent laptop, windows 7 installed on primary mbr ntfs
single internal 750gb hdd, usb connectors, , internal cd/drd rewriter
lucid 32 bit installed , working on 2nd partition
bootable lucid 32 bit usb stick available.
integrity checked 64 bit lucid desktop , alternative install disks being prepared now.

not sure if there advantage in tying use other mbr system, suspect not important issue right now. bot concerned retaining settings or files lucid 32 bit installation, thing want i.e, personal files, , bookmarks backed , available.

reason avoid unnecessary use of cli make many typos when there spell checker

if have nothing want save, use manual install , choose existing / (root) partition install to. should find existing swap automatically. if want change partitions, can use gparted livecd (swapoff unmount swap) adjust partitions.
