Thread: Windos cannot access DVDs/CDs

i have several dvd-rom & cd-roms research material. have mounted , shared drives. also, have created samba shares of folders. on windows xp , win7x64, can see shares can not access of drives. get:

windows cannot access \\server\dvd

not have permission access \\server\dvd. contact network adminstrator request access.

first linux install. please help!!! , in advance!!!

misc info:
- ubuntu 11.10 64-bit sever ubunut desktop
- asus p5q
- sony optaric sata dvd-rom drives (5)

update - installed swat , updated admin users , read list entries include user account. can access 1 pata cd-rom, none of sata dvd-roms. suggestions?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
