Thread: wubi (ubuntu) no longer boots after installing

hi, i'm reasonably experienced computers not sys admin type stuff.

can see attached jpg, installed ubuntu using wubi. worked fine (so dual boot either vista or ubuntu).

when installed mingw on vista, ubuntu stopped working (i couldn't boot ubuntu anymore).

if don't know mingw is, blog post following has link mingw:
http://blog.eddsn.com/2010/05/unable...vcvarsall-bat/

happens when turn on computer:
usual screen asking if want boot windows or vista. if select default of ubuntu, error:

try (hd0,0): ntfs5: error: "prefix" not set.
error: no such device: /ubuntu/disks/root.disk.
error: no such device: /ubuntu/install/boot/grub/grub.cfg

goes "minimal bash-like" terminal can type few commands such reboot

may worth noting @ 1 stage, within windows, set windows default boot using bcdedit , working fine. when installed mingw made ubuntu default boot.

uploaded picture of disk management in case helps.

if cant find root.disk mean i've lost work?
reinstall if need try recover file if possible..

thanks.. please let me know if need else
