Why is Google Toolbar and Chrome downloading with Flash?

when go through download procedure, i'm not getting custom install option, , after clicking on install see google toolbar , chrome downloading along flash.  cancelled installation thinking missed , started over.  same thing happened.  want download flash , want no part of google or chrome.  can tell me how can custom install, or, tell me after download completes, have option of saying don't install google toolbar , chrome.  if can, great.  if can't , reason flash has decided forcefeed want no part of, i'll without flash.  have no idea why seems have disappeared computer in first place causing me have reinstall again.  in advance assistance.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
