Thread: Black screen booting

hello everyone,
tried boot ubuntu usb stick, gives me black screen right after booting, screen goes off, , can hear welcome sound, read using nomodeset couldn't figure out how that, because didn't install ubuntu yet, problem comes usb,
laptop hp g6
i'm trying boot ubuntu 11.10

in adcance

i had problem live cd:
solution press (many times) f10 after bios splash screen,
did f6 , choose nomodeset start live disk.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
